Background

I am currently a junior in the college of IST at Penn State University planning on graduating in the spring of 2018 with a degree in the college of Information Sciences & Technology with a focus on Integration and Application.  Over the course of my education an area I enjoyed working with was creating databases.  IST 220 taught me how to use SQL statements to organize a database.  I worked alongside a team of 4 classmates to create a functioning database for a sports team.  Our team worked together to plan, design, create, and finally present our database to the class.  Some technologies we used were MySQL, VisualStudio, and together we demonstrated strong teamwork skills by communicated effectively to get the job done efficiently.

During the summer of 2015 I was one of two customer service managers at Hhgregg in Downingtown PA.  Everyday I would work with Hhgregg’s database full of customer orders, deliveries, and past purchases.  My job was to accommodate customers needs such as returns, delivery changes, help finding specific products through Hhgregg’s product database coordinating with other stores nearby and to keep the store clean and presentable.  Another area I work with a team is at my local Wawa convenience store.  We continually earn honors for best sales and customer service due to our unique team that is more like a family.  At Wawa we are very detail oriented and ensure that everything is organized because we must keep the highest standards of the company’s integrity.  As individuals we all are accountable for our duties but together we make it work.  I believe these experiences helped me greatly become more responsible.
